Currently, there is no law in Colorado or Weld County requiring a business to have a license to sell any form of tobacco products.

The Tobacco-Free Coalition of Weld County is seeking input and support for licensing businesses that sell non-cigarette tobacco and nicotine products
.

We support a city ordinance that would do the following to protect Weld County youth from tobacco and nicotine use and prevent illegal sale of nicotine products to minors:
  • Require all retailers who sell tobacco and nicotine products to have a license;
  • Put all tobacco and nicotine products behind the counter;
  • Ensure all clerks who sell nicotine products are at least 18, the legal age for tobacco use;
  • Not allow minors in tobacco-only stores;
  • Suspend or revoke the license of those who repeatedly sell to minors;
  • Conduct frequent checks to ensure stores are not selling to youth.
